ABOUT JOHNNY CAZ
John was the 4th out of 6 children born to James & Evelyn Chambers.
I grew up being called Johnny. My childhood friends still call me that today. 😊

Like most kids I grew up enjoying sports and music. When I was about 10 years old, I had the desire to play the Trumpet, but that never happened. At the age of 17, I bought an Electric Guitar and an Amplifier. I liked Chuck Berry and his most popular song, “ Johnny B Goode”. I thought that it would be simple to learn how to play. Unfortunately, without a Tutor, it didn’t work out that way. I Loved going to Picnics, BBQ’s, the Az State Fair, going to sporting events, Music, Dancing and Concerts over the years.
I had a pretty good life, while working for 2- Utility Companies, over a 39- year period. I retired when I was almost 62. A few years later, at the young age of 65, I decided to try my skills at songwriting. My very 1st song was related to the warm weather, that we have in Phoenix and the desert southwest. We can dress in shorts, tee shirts and tank tops, as well as wear sandals & flip-flops, throughout the year. So I wrote the song: Flipflopz and Tanktopz. I sent it to my friend Pierre Jovan. He is a Singer, Musician, Videographer, Producer and a Studio Engineer. PJ, was Musical Director and Piano man for Next Movement. A fantastic R & B Group from Chicago. They are my most favorite Band in Las Vegas. PJ, came up with a nice melody, that everyone seemed to like. Later I asked my son Steve to drop by my house and check it out. He did and he liked the song to. Then I asked him to see if he can create a Line-dance, for the song. Since he is a popular DJ and a Dance Instructor. After Steve’s approval, I felt that I was headed in the right direction. After we finished the Music Video in July of 2014, I was hoping that there was more, where that came from. Then an idea came up in another category. A Love Song. The Title of this song was: “ I’m Gonna Love You For Life”. PJ Sang this song as a Soloist. I felt that I wanted to try a Duet on this one. Pierre hired Saundria Tyson to sing with him. The song was better but lacked the Sweet sounds of a Saxophone. Pierre hired Sid the Kid Smith to add his romantic horn.
As President Barack Obama's 2nd term was winding down, I came up with the idea of a song about him and all of the Drama that he had gone through with GOP controlled Senate. As well Citizen Donald Trump, spreading the Lie that President Obama was not even born in the US. Then Radical Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio was saying something similar. So I wrote the song: “It’s Been 8 Long Years.” PJ hired Pillz 21 to sing and Rap this special song. I wanted it to remind me of John Legend & Common’s song Glory… My daughter Monica Chambers- Boatman, created a Slideshow Video for my song. “It’s Been 8 Long Years.” It came out decently.
So I kept on writing. PJ introduced me to Guitarist, Singer and Songwriter Lou Ragland. Lou was real sharp at Copyright Protection as well as signing up with BMI, Broadcast Music Inc. He showed me how to get paid, when social media or a radio station plays my songs. When I first met Lou, I was a part-time Handyman, after I retired from the Electric Utility. I gave him my business card “Moonlight Handyman”. He said that this is a song. I asked him what do you mean? Again, he said Moonlight Handyman is a song. So I wrote the song overnight. LOL He had Bobby Jonz to Sing the song. I didn’t really care for his version. Later I met a Guitarist, Singer, Songwriter and Composer through 2 friends. A dear friend Cheryl Brown had told me about a Classic Blues man Billy Ray Charles. A Grammy Nominee. So happened I was at the South Point listening to Motown & More. After the show a friend Dorothy Stewart said that she was going to see Billy Ray Charles. It was about 11pm and I driven to Vegas from Phoenix, that morning. I was tired, but I knew I had to hear Mr BRC. That night in August of 2017, was a Game Changer for me. When he took a break and went outside, I went to meet him. We hit it off, because we knew some of the same people. If fact his Mentor, Richard Cason was a good friend of mine from Phoenix. Plus he wanted a phone number of a Blues singer & Guitarist Lucius Parr in Phoenix. I hooked them up and Lucius came to Vegas a few weeks later, they had a Jam- Session. I put them on FB Live. BRC and I have collaborated on over 20 songs. 7- of them are on my 1st Cd, The Johnny Caz Music Project, Vol #1.
I first asked BRC the night that we met, if I could send him the Lyrics to one of the songs, that I had wrote and he said yes. So I sent him “Champagne Taste”. Within 2-weeks BRC sent me a complete song, with Lead & Background Vocals, Lead guitar, Key Board and a Beat. It blew me away. I was not expecting something, so good, to be done so fast. I knew that “Moonlight Handyman” should be a better song than the Original Version. So I let BRC create a new version, without hearing the Original. His Version was Outstanding. We were on a roll. We completed several more songs together. I came up with “I Wanna Hot Meal” A Romantic Comedy song, BRC hooked it up. Later, I thought about the Classic Love/ Cheating song, “If Loving you is wrong” (I don’t want to be right.) I figured that I could create a Love song, just the opposite of it. So I wrote “If Loving you is Right”. (I don’t want to be Wrong) BRC composed it and hired Avana Christie to sing this song, at my request for a female singer. As time ticked on by, I realized BRC and I were approaching 70-years of age. So I wrote a song about aging and dealing with it, in a fun way. “70- Is Cool”. Then I came up with an Idea about having a nice Lady Friend or Wife, who is Romantic and can cook. BRC played the heck out of his Blues Guitar in my song, “Good Lovin’ & Hot Chicken Wings”. All of these songs were complete in 2019 or before.
I had wrote a song about Las Vegas in 2015. Unfortunately my longtime friend Pierre Jovan was traveling the world, singing on Cruise ships. So he didn’t have the time to compose the song that I envisioned. So I approached Lou Ragland. He got with some musicians and made some progress, but still not reaching it’s full potential. When I met BRC, I heard him sing some R & B, so I asked him to work on the project for me. He made some strides forward. However, I wanted him to add Avana Christie’s voice and make the song even better. He did and I was happy. So I took it to PJ and he dropped his voice on as Lead Vocalist. I liked it, but I could hear Earl Shelby of the Next Movement singing this song. He & the group Sang “The Las Vegas Swag” or “The LV Swag” and did a very good job. In this complicated year of 2019.... I revised a song that I wrote in Nov of 2019, that BRC composed, “ It’s Something It’s Never Been”. (Make America Great Again) After the Murder of George Floyd and the shooting of Jacob Blake, in the back 7- times by police. I felt that this song was ready for the Airwaves. PJ, Got a Las Vegas Singer William Jordan to sing it. It came out very nice…. Finally, I got with a Grammar school friend this summer. I asked songwriter Gale Hillman Sr would he like to help me write a song about the Pandemic/ Corona Virus. We both came up with some Lyrics and I sent them to BRC . Who composed a nice song. “Let’s Get Back To Love”. I took it to PJ and he got with singer Jaron Lovings to sing it and perform on the Music Video. We are happy with it. I just hope that the general public and the World will Love both the song and the Music Video.
